Our host in Roja was Maris Grosbahs. Maris has organized several Art Symposia in Roja and elsewhere and works in a variety of media. On the day of our visit he was running his Raku kiln.
Although Maris is well known for his fired pots ,he is equally known for his smoked fish! He had a feast waiting for us when we arrived.
So the afternoon went. Open the kiln, eat some fish, open the kiln, eat……..
It was a chilly day so the kiln served double duty.
The fish were caught on the morning of our visit and smoked by Maris in his traditional smoker.
We finished up our visit with a walk through the village to see some of the works from the last symposium and ended up back at the Baltic.
Altogether an enjoyable afternoon and a bit of a break from symposium work.
Thanks for following.
Love the idea of kiln doing double-duty – art really does sustain life!
